I am in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy

I am behind on credit cards and or car payments

I am behind on my mortgage and other bills

I am 90 days past due on my mortgage

I have received a foreclosure notice from my mortgage company or bank

The Sheriff has posted a foreclosure notice on my door!

I lost my home to foreclosure and I am renting!

I tried to save my home and can't get anywhere with my mortgage company

I have filed for bankruptcy and I am still having problems

The Sheriff has posted a foreclosure notice on my door!

The Sheriff has posted a foreclosure notice on my door! If the Sheriff has posted a note on your home or serves you with court papers, listing a foreclosure date, seek a bankruptcy attorney as soon as possible!!! This is a date your home will be sold to the highest bidder at the county courthouse. Your address will be listed in the paper! This is a legal notice required by law. Investors review the notices and sometimes drive by to see if they might bid on your home! Contact a bankruptcy attorney AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! In some states you get one or two postponements of the Sheriff sale. However, contact an attorney as soon as possible!

A filing of bankruptcy will, in most cases, stop the foreclosure and give you time to put a plan in action! Sadly, in the current mortgage environment few lenders are willing to buy you out! So, filing for bankruptcy in most cases is your best course of action!

Seek competent legal advice! The key word being competent. How can you make sure you are talking to a competent attorney? By asking questions you already know the answers to! How can you get an answer to your question? Contact and meet with one or more attorneys before you decide. A lot of bankruptcy attorneys will meet with you at no charge for the first visit. Some states have free legal help and I have searched the Internet for information on filing bankruptcy, simply by searching the word "bankruptcy"! Some sites have a question and answer section. That's your best opportunity to learn the answers to frequently asked questions!

Then when you meet with an attorney you are thinking of hiring, you can interview him or her! That's right! I said interview! You are about to hire a professional that holds your financial future in his or her hands. You must make sure you are hiring the correct person! Yes, I said hire. You're the boss! It's your life! Therefore, the correct attorney is very important!
